Children's Birthday Parties

The Movement Space has hosted unique and memorable Parties for children of all ages for 22 years.

The Movement Space and its experienced staff will work with you to customize a party
tailored to your child’s interests and personality.

Party activities take place in our 1900 square foot classroom with colorful mats, 
equipment/props and sound system that help to facilitate action-filled, movement-based fun.

The Party facility offers a child friendly lobby/food room with sink, counter space,
refrigerator, tables, chairs, cubbies and a handicapped restroom.

We recommend 10-15 guests of the birthday child as an ideal for creating a joyful and 
comfortable setting for your child’s special day.

 

Party Basics and Fees

Parties are held on Saturdays and Sundays. Our time slots are 3-5pm on Saturdays and 11-1pm or 3-5pm on Sundays.


At the time of your reservation one half deposit of the total party fees will be due to hold your party date and time.
Cancellation of a party is subject to a 100.00-$150.00 cancellation fee.
There are no refunds for parties cancelled within one week of the party date.


Party fees cover reservation and use of the Movement Space, our Staff members, equipment, party tables, and chairs.


Our Staff members will plan and lead activities for the children. They will also help with the complete timing, food service,
and hosting of the party ensuring a balanced and fun-filled party. There are absolutely no outside entertainers allowed at the Movement Space parties.


Our Staff will do all set-up and clean-up for the party.


Party family will provide all party food, cake, drinks, paper products, and party favors.
All foods must arrive prepared for serving.  Cooking is strictly prohibited.  Sterno heated foods are allowed. There is absolutely no candy table allowed at the Movement Space parties.

 

If you are planning on having a Pinata at your party, please note that we allow pull-string Pinatas only.  We will not allow Pinatas that must be broken with bats or sticks.

There is absolutely no liquor, wine or beer allowed at the Movement Space parties.

Please note: From time to time the elevator is out of service.  We cannot always guarantee it will be running.  In this case we will make sure guests are greeted downstairs and guided up.  At the end of your party our staff will help carry your party gifts and extras down.

Also: The Monroe Center is a very active building with other events being held. We cannot always guarantee parking in the parking lot.

 

Party Fees

Parties are planned according to the number of all invited guests of the birthday child. 
This includes the birthday child, adults and non-participating babies as well.

The Movement Space party limit is 85 people
which is all persons of all ages attending your party.


There cannot be more than 25 participating children, including the birthday child, attending the birthday party. This count does not include babies that are held by an adult. Any child that is crawling/walking is considered in this 25 child count.
If your party goes over the guest limit of your booking contract
an additional fee of $100.00-$300.00 will be required.

Please keep in mind when sending your invitations that our Party limit is 85 people. 
On the day of your party if your guest count reaches 85, we will be forced
to send anyone past that number away.

Monroe Street Movement Space Birthday Party Checklist

Thank you for choosing the Movement Space for your celebration.
We have compiled some helpful guidelines and agreements for your birthday party.

After reading the following, feel free to contact us with any remaining questions.

  • Two weeks prior to your party we will contact you to confirm your contract details and to schedule a time and day for you to deliver your party goods.

  • Your delivered items can include all paper goods, utensils, cups, plates, party favors, drinks, chips, crackers and any other non-perishable foods. Also include containers for left over food.

  • You will need 5 rectangular table clothes for parties of 15 participating children and 6 table clothes for parties of 25 participating children. {paper or plastic table clothes--standard banquet size--54"x 96"}

  • On the day of your party bring any fresh food items and your cake with you at party time. 
    If you have an ice cream cake the dimensions of our freezer are 22"wide x 16"deep

  • The Movement Space is a shoe free environment.  It is a good idea to let your guests know this in advance.  Shoes are allowed in the lobby only.

  • Party family should arrive no earlier that 15 minutes before party start time. Party guests may not enter until party start time. This will ensure our party staff enough time to set-up and prepare all activities. There is a 15 minute grace time at the end of the party for party family and guests to leave. After 15 minutes there will be a rental fees of $100 per half hour. 

  • We will hang signs downstairs and at the elevator to help direct your guests to the Movement Space. 

  • Please note: From time to time the elevator is out of service.  We cannot always guarantee it will be running.  In this case we will make sure guests are greeted downstairs and guided up.  At the end of your party our staff will help carry your party gifts and extras down.

  • If you are ordering pizza or any other hot food have it delivered 45 minutes after your party starts.  We recommend that with pizza some of the pies are cut into "child sized" slices.  We will typically  break for a snack and drink time one hour into the party.

  • The Movement Space party limit is 85 people.  There cannot be more than 25 participating children attending the birthday party. This count does not include babies that are held by an adult.  Any child that is crawling/walking is considered in this 25 child count. We will do a final headcount during your party and if there are any additional children past your booking contract there will be an extra change of $100-$300. depending how many extra guests are present.

  • Please keep in mind when sending your invitations that our occupancy load is 85 people.  On the day of your party if your guest count reaches 85, we will be forced to send anyone past that number away.

  • All children attending the party must have an adult present who is responsible for that child. This does not have to be a parent but must be someone who can contact the child's parents if an emergency arises.  The party family will be responsible for any children left without a supervising adult and must have emergency contact numbers with them for each child.

  • Juice boxes for the children make serving more efficient than pouring drinks into cups. 
    Cupcakes can be used in place of a large cake if preferred.

  • You do not need to provide any decorations.  The Movement Space is a colorful, festive and cheerful environment.

  • Most importantly we ask that you think of a theme your child would like his/her party to be based around. 
    For example: Prince/Princess, Superheroes, Butterflies, Sports, Cars, Dinosaurs, or a favorite movie.
    We will design the activity/adventure around this theme to make a unique and memorable experience for your child.

  • The approximate timing of party activities will be as follows:

    • 10-15 minutes: Arrival and Greeting of Guests

    • 40-45 minutes: Guided Activities/Adventure led by Party Staff

    • 15-20 minutes: Snack/Food

    • 30-40 minutes: Activities/Adventure led by Party Staff

    • 15-20 minutes: Happy Birthday Gathering & Cake

  • The remaining balance of your party fee will be due on the Friday before your party. 
    We accept cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard or American Express.

 

For your Guests: Directions to the Movement Space

We are located in Hoboken, between 7th & 8th Streets
at 720 Monroe Street, Building C in the Monroe Center building complex.

 

We are just 1/2 block from the 9th Street/Congress Light Rail Stop
which connects to the NJ PATH Train.

 

From Monroe Street, enter Building C through the entrance on 8th Street,
between Monroe and Jackson Streets.

 

Take the elevator to the 5th floor. Turn left out of the elevator, turn left again
and walk down the hallway to the purple doors—studio C-504.

 

The parking lot is behind the building complex—accessible from Jackson St. 
The lobby and elevator are accessible from the parking lot.
After parking walk left toward Building C.
